Michael Richard Lynch OBE DL FRS FREng (born 16 June 1965) is a well-known British tech entrepreneur. He co-founded Autonomy Corporation and started Invoke Capital. With Invoke Capital, he also helped build Darktrace, a company specializing in cyber security. During his career, he has held various important advisory roles.
Lynch studied at Cambridge University, doing degree, PhD and post-doctoral research. He used his knowledge in machine learning to start successful software companies and became a major player in the tech scene in Silicon Valley. When Hewlett-Packard bought Autonomy in 2011, it faced allegations of fraud. Lynch faced a civil lawsuit in the UK and was extradited to the US. After a trial in March 2024, he was acquitted of all charges in June 2024.
On 19 August 2024, Lynch went missing when the large sailing yacht Bassian sank off the coast of Sicily.
